he Grobogan regency administration will cover treatment costs for students and their family members who suffered from food poisoning after consuming state-provided free nutritious meals on Tuesday.
“BPJS Kesehatan will bear the costs for victims who are registered as active members of BPJS Kesehatan,” Grobogan Regency Secretary Anang Armunanto said in Grobogan, Central Java, on Thursday, as quoted by Antara news agency.
“Meanwhile, victims who are not registered or are not active members of BPJS Kesehatan, the treatment cost will be borne by the state budget or Gorontalo regency budget."
The victims were treated at Ki Ageng Getas Pendowo General Hospital, R. Soedjati Purwodadi General Hospital and Permata Bunda hospital. Community health centers (Puskesmas) also treated the students, such as those in Karangrayung, Kedungjati, Gubug, Toroh, Klambu, Grobogan and Godong districts.
As many as 803 students in Grobogan suffered from food poisoning after consuming the free meal on Tuesday morning, although most of them had been declared recovered.
Only 115 students were treated in hospitals.
Operational activities at the involved meal provider, nutrition fulfillment service unit (SPPG) Kuwaron 1 in Gubug district, were suspended. The unit provides meals for 2,904 beneficiaries.
