orth Sumatra High Prosecutor’s Office has named president director PT Prima Alloy Steel Universal (PASU), identified as JS, as suspect in alleged corruption related to aluminum sales at PT Indonesian Aluminium (Inalum) on Tuesday.

The naming of JS as suspects added a list of officials already named as suspects in the corruption scandal allegedly causing a state loss of US$8 million.

Head of special crimes investigation section at North Sumatra High Prosecutor’s Office, Arif Kadarman, said JS was named suspect after further investigation into the case by the office.

Arif said investigators at the prosecutor’s office have found two evidence, which were enough to name JS as suspect.

“Suspect JS allegedly, together with other suspects, changed the payment scheme from initially supposedly to use cash and domestic letter of credit (SKBDN) and changed it into Document Against Acceptance (D/A) with a tenor of 180 days,” he said after detaining JS at Tanjung Gusta Detention Center in Medan on Tuesday evening.

Because of the payment scheme, JS as president director of PT PASU did not pay for aluminium alloy which had been shipped by PT Inalum and caused the $8 million of losses.
