woman was handed a death penalty while three other defendants got life sentences after judges at the Medan District Court read their verdicts in the case of distribution of 100 kilograms of sabu-sabu (crystal methamphetamine).
Defendant Cut Salmia Ali from Langkat regency, North Sumatra, received the death penalty on Jan 21. because she was proven to control the distribution of sabu.
The verdict matched the demand made by prosecutor Daniel Surya Partogi Aritonang.
Presiding judge Monita Honeisty Sitorus said that the defendant was found legally and convincingly violating Article 114 clause 2 of the Narcotics Law.
“There is no mitigating factor for the defendant because she has carried out the violation more than once," she said.
“The aggravating factor is the defendant’s action did not support the government’s program in eradicating narcotics crimes.”
The three defendants receiving life sentences were Zulkifli from East Aceh and spouses Sudiharto and Kamalia from Langat regency. They were tried in separate dossiers.
