A new retail service for BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) users in Indonesia was introduced on Friday.
The collaboration between consumer social network business Creative Media Works and e-commerce company Bukalapak, BBM Shopping allows BBM users to access millions of products and receive special offers supported by a secure payment method.
According to a press release, Bukalapak users can connect their online account directly to BBM Shopping. Meanwhile, new users can simply register and make payments via BBM without having to login again.
"We will continue to utilize medium-sized businesses for sellers and potential sellers," said Bukalapak founder and CEO Achmad Zaky.

Available since August 2005, BBM is said to be one of the biggest mobile messaging apps with its current active users in the country totaling more than 64 million.
BBM Shopping will be supported by BBM Checkout, a service in which all payment identity and delivery information will be securely kept after the users have made their first purchase.
"We will transform BBM from a regular messaging app to sophisticated mobile platform where brands can interact with consumers, as well as boost purchases from its users," said Matthew Talbot, CEO of Creative Media Works, which operates and is running BBM globally. (fmn/kes)
