urah by Wicaksono Wisnu Legowo won the most awards - Best Director, Best Screenplay and Best Actor - at the 2017 Tempo Film Festival held on Monday at Epicentrum XXI in South Jakarta.
Festival judge Adrian Jonathan Pasaribu said, as quoted by tempo.co, that Turah provided a different perspective on poverty. “The film showcases the reality of poverty,” said Adrian.
Although Turah won three awards, Marlina the Murderer in Four Acts won coveted awards in Best Film and Best Actress, won by Marsha Timothy.
Turah and Marlina the Murderer in Four Acts are no strangers to film festivals. Prior to this, Turah won two awards at the Jogja-NETPAC Asian Film Festival (JAFF) and received a special mention at the 27th Singapore International Film Festival, while Marlina the Murderer in Four Acts was named the winner in the Best Scenario category at the 11th International Women's Film Festival in Salé (FIFFS) in Morocco.
