Looks from the Kenzo Fall/Winter 2018 collection would be subtly showcased in a short film directed by the brand’s creative director.
he co-creative director of Kenzo and cofounder of Opening Ceremony Humberto Leon has taken a solo project to direct the luxury brand’s fashion film, set to make its debut at an event during New York Fashion Week on Sept. 7.
Since 2011, Leon and long-time Opening Ceremony partner, Carol Lim, have collaborated as co-creative directors. However, as for fall 2018, Leon had decided to direct this project on his own.
Titled The Everything, the film is reported by UK Fashion Network to feature Kenzo’s fall and winter 2018 collection as well as La Collection Memento No. 3, the third capsule collection Leon and Lim have created based on the brand’s archives.
A statement released by the brand said the short film would revolve around “a light-hearted drama about a family of teenagers with unusual powers that bring them together”.

The 27-minute film stars an ensemble cast led by Milla Jovovich playing the family matriarch. More from the cast include Alexandra Shipp and Kodi Smit-McPhee (both starred in 2016’s X-Men: Apocalypse) as well as Sasha Frovola, Regina Hall, Jay Ellis, Zsela Thompson and Leo Reilly.
Los Angeles Times reported that the short film is Kenzo’s latest installment in a series of campaigns. Others who have produced films for the French brand include Gregg Araki, Sean Baker, Carrie Brownstein, Kahlil Joseph, Natasha Lyonne and Ana Lily Amirpour for the short video called Yo! My Saint!
Meanwhile, according to The Hollywood Reporter, there will also be special appearance from Spike Jonze, who had previously directed a three-minute film called My Mutant Brain for Kenzo World, the first fragrance Leon and Lim created for the brand.
Expect The Everything to be unconventional, inventive and thoroughly creative in line with the brand’s ethos, UK Fashion Network commented. (saz/mut)
