Indonesian pianist Joey Alexander recently performed on NPR’s Music Tiny Desk concert.

The 25-minute video, published on Nov. 30, shows the Grammy-nominated musician playing on a baby grand piano accompanied by Reuben Rogers on bass and Kendrick Scott on drums.

The trio seemed to enjoy every minute of the intimate concert, while performing Joey’s three original songs, namely “Eclipse”, “Bali” and “City Lights”.

NPR Music senior director Lauren Onkey wrote that "once you see the 15-year-old musician play live, you quickly forget his age and get lost in the intense focus of his performance".

“The relaxed, seasoned veterans looked thrilled to be playing with Alexander at the Tiny Desk, and he was clearly inspired playing with them. The crowd was both mesmerized and humbled by the memories of what he was doing at 15,” adds Onkey.

First launched on April 22, 2008, Tiny Desk is a video series recorded at the desk of All Songs Considered host Bob Boilen.  The live concerts have showcased hundreds of musicians, including Erykah Badu, Dave Matthews, Wu-Tang Clan, Hanson and indie-rock band Beirut.  (jes/wng)
