div>Entering its ninth year, clothing trade show Jakarta Clothing Expo (JakCloth) still attracts visitors. Around 380 tenants offer a variety of T-shirts, denim, jackets, pants and shoes in the JakCloth Year End Sale, held from Dec.19 to 23 at Parkir Timur Senayan.
Dominated by teenagers, visitors line up to get their hands on desired fashion items, including Kevin, who patiently stood in line at Wickedstitch.co’s booth, which offered T-shirts at a discounted price of Rp 10,000 (68 US cents) from the original price of Rp.159,000.
“The discount is not bad, I can use my money to buy something else,” said Kevin, who visited the trade show with his friends from Tangerang. The wide variety of clothing and discounts attracted new visitors, as well as those who have been visiting every year.
Affandi, a visitor who came with his family, seconded Kevin’s reason, “The prices are affordable, and there are playgrounds for kids as well,” he said to
Kompas.com.
Unlike previous years, the 2018 JakCloth event does not feature any musical performance. According to CEO of Jakpro’s organizer Lian Mipro, Ucok Nasution, the decision was made without putting aside their aim to give the best to visitors as well as local brand owners to expand their businesses.
A seller from Bandung, Ipan, said the various coupons and promotions offered by the organizers are good for the brands. He also added that on the first day, sales were not as good as last year. “But there’s still a couple more days,” he said.
According to Kompas.id, this year’s JakCloth aims to attract 200,000 to 250,000 visitors over five days. Novianti Bustomi from the JakCloth organizers said, “On Wednesday, which is the first day, the numbers are good. Usually, the visitor number spikes on the last two days, sometimes making it hard for people to pass the area due to the crowd." (asw)
