Marking the 50th anniversary of the comic book Gundala by Harya "Hasmi" Suraminata that was first released in 1969, Bumilangit Komik has announced that it would release 30 comic book, novel and children's book titles throughout 2019.
nticipation is high for the arrival of Indonesian superhero film Gundala, a collaboration effort between Bumilangit Studio, Screenplay Films and Legacy Pictures, set to be screened this year.
Marking the 50th anniversary of the comic book Gundala by Harya "Hasmi" Suraminata that was first released in 1969, Bumilangit Komik has announced that it would release 30 comic book, novel and children's book titles throughout 2019.
As reported by Antara, the company will publish the products in collaboration with Gramedia Group, including titles like comic Virgo (released by Elex Media), Si Buta dari Gua Hantu (The Blind Warrior From the Ghost Cave) (Koloni), Gundala (Koloni), Aquanus (Koloni), Patriot: Prahara (Koloni); Si Buta dari Gua Hantu the Novel, Mandala (Clover), Sri Asih (Elex Media) and Patriot Cilik children's book (Funtastic).

Renowned comic artist Ardian Syaf is said to have worked on the Gundala the Movie comic book that will be released at the same time with the film premiere. Other names involved in the project are Oyasujiwo as writer and Doni Cahyono as colorist.
Ardian said the creation process of the comic would be in line with Joko Anwar's vision as the film's director.
"It is fun to get involved in this project since it's the most popular superhero in Indonesia, and I personally admired the late Pak Hasmi," said Ardian.
Meanwhile, comic artist Sweta Kartika is also involved as the writer for the Gundala comic book series, alongside Iwan Nazif, who is one of Bumilangit's comic artists involved in creating a new series of Si Buta dari Gua Hantu.
The Patriot series by RA Kosasih, which features Indonesian female hero Sri Asih, is scheduled to be released in February and will be available in both digital and print versions, including a novel. (kes)
