Over the last couple of weeks, Google has thrown a few new features into its popular navigation app, Google Maps.
Users were thrilled to see the addition of sports speed limit notifications and speed camera warnings, both of which were part of Waze. If you’re unfamiliar with Waze, it’s a Google-owned alternative to Maps using crowdsourced information to warn users about things – accidents, construction, speed traps and other incidents – that people should avoid during their commutes, as reported by Phone Arena.
However, a screenshot shared on Reddit shows that Google Maps is to soon allow users to report a crash or a speed trap that they would pass on their current journeys. Pressing the “+” button would bring up a menu that allows drivers to inform other drivers if there’s a crash or a speed trap.

This has raised a big question among users: Is Google intending to slowly kill off Waze?
As we wait for more updates on this matter, one feature that Waze has over Google Maps is the option that allows turn-by-turn directions to be vocalized by celebrities or a user’s own voice. (geo/kes)
