A glass of wine tastes so much better when paired with the right food.
Italian sommelier Salvatore Campione served his selection of Italian wine and tapas at a wine pairing event, An Evening at Talamonti Vineyard in Abruzzo, in Ban Lam Wine Shop & Bar at Hotel Tugu Malang, East Java, April 23.
“The pairing method is quite intricate […] The basic formula is that if the food has a more delicate taste, it is more suited to sweeter or lighter wine,” he said.
Conversely, food with a sharp taste will match well with stronger wine.
“Otherwise, one of the flavors in the pair, either that of wine or of food, will overwhelm the other,” added Campione, who is in charge of Talamonti sales in Asia-Pacific and Middle East regions.
He presented four types of Talamonti wine from the Southern Italian region of Abruzzo produced in 2015 and 2017.
The evening started off with the lightest tasting wine, allowing guests to adjust their palate before moving on to wine with stronger flavors and aromas.
