Louis Vuitton premieres ‘Canvas of the Future’, featuring Royole AMOLED displays

rench fashion house Louis Vuitton’s recent Cruise 2020 fashion show revealed how the brand was following the trend of flexible displays.

Taking place at TWA Flight Center in New York on May 8, the show premiered prototypes of a new bag design that features 1920 x 1440 resolution flexible AMOLED displays. Dubbed “Canvas of the Future”, the bag series involves Royole, manufacturer of flexible displays, sensors and smart devices, in its making.

A video posted to Instagram shows how a bag has two displays on one of its sides, while another bag has a single display on each side.

Web browsers that scroll were seen on the bag display, as well as ones that show colorful urban visualizations, as described by The Verge.

According to The Verge, Louis Vuitton stated that the idea of the handbag was for it to become an extension of the smartphone, hence more functionality. Meanwhile, Royole, a California-based start-up, has been talked about for introducing the world’s first foldable smartphone tablet, namely FlexiPai.

However, headphone and mobile reviewer Vlad Savov implies there is room for FlexiPai to improve. (sop/mut)
