he song appears on the soundtrack to "Blinded by the Light," a new coming-of age film whose plot is inspired by Springsteen's music.
As Rolling Stone points out, the previously unreleased ballad was originally penned for "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone," but never made it into the film.

The Boss hinted at it in a 2016 interview to the BBC, revealing that "at some point [he]'d like to get into a children's movie of some sort."
The lyrics are loosely inspired by J.K. Rowling's saga, with Springsteen notably singing "I know that here in the dark/Tomorrow can seem so very far away/Here the ghosts and the goblins/Can rise from your dreams."
"I'll Stand by You," which first leaked in 2017, is one of the numerous Springsteen rarities appearing on the soundtrack to "Blinded by the Light."
Among them are his first-ever performance of "The River" during No Nukes' 1979 concert at Madison Square Garden, as well as a rare acoustic rendition of "The Promised Land."
The soundtrack also features several fan favorites, such as "Thunder Road," "Badlands" and "Hungry Heart."
"Blinded by the Light" is based on the memoir "Greetings from Bury Park: Race, Religion and Rock 'N' Roll" by British-Pakistani journalist Sarfraz Manzoor.
The Gurinder Chadha-directed film details Manzoor's experience growing up in 1987 Britain as a teenager obsessed with Springsteen.
"Blinded by the Light" arrives a few months after the Boss' 19th studio album, "Western Stars," which dropped back in June.
The movie, which is already on show in UK theaters, will be released in the US on August 16.
