Niken Wulandari, head of the cultural program at Sekolah Bogor Raya, said they would conduct various activities throughout their trip as well. “After the performances, we will have a gala dinner and invite guests to try [playing the] gamelan,” Niken said, adding that they planned to bring a slendro (five-toned scale) Sundanese gamelan.

The 2019 Indonesia Culture Caravan is also supported by the Tourism Ministry. “This can be our opportunity to attract more American visitors to travel to Indonesia,” said Indroyono Soesilo, the Tourism Ministry's honorable advisor. He added that the event was also part of a series of events to commemorate Indonesia’s 70 years of diplomatic relations with the US. (wir/mut)
