American heavy metal band Slipknot announced it will perform at the Hammersonic 2020 rock festival in Jakarta.

Founded in 1995 in Iowa, United States, Slipknot consists of Shawn "Clown" Crahan on custom percussion and backing vocals; Craig "133" Jones on samples, media, keyboards and guitar; Mick Thomson on guitars; Corey Taylor on vocals; Sid Wilson on turntables and keyboards; Jim Root on guitars; Alessandro Venturella on piano and synthesizer; and Jay Weinberg on drums. The band has released six studio albums and received a Grammy Award in 2006 for Best Metal Performance.

The band stands out with its “evil clown” masks and costumes, as well as the use of various found objects such as beer kegs and baseball bats as percussions.

Established in 2012, the annual Hammersonic festival is considered one of the biggest metal and rock festivals in Southeast Asia. Renowned international groups that have graced Hammersonic stages include Bullet for My Valentine, Hatebreed, Morbid Angel, Lamb of God, Cannibal Corpse, Dying Fetus, Gorgoroth and Megadeth.

Hammersonic 2020 is scheduled to run on March 27-28, 2020 at Carnaval Beach, Ancol.

Tickets will go on sale on Nov. 11 on the festival's official website, with prices starting from Rp 750,000 (US$53.41). (gis/wng)
