American pop star Katy Perry has dropped details on the first single from her upcoming album KP5 on her Instagram account.

“The first single from #KP5 is called #DAISIES and she’s coming May 15, 2020,” Perry wrote.

The announcement depicts a grainy photo, possibly the artwork cover for "Daisies", showing the singer smiling upwards while lying amid daisy shrubs.

On March 5, Perry released the single "Never Worn White". She announced her pregnancy with fiancée Orlando Bloom in the music video.

Born as Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson in 1984, Perry began singing in church during her childhood and pursued a career in gospel music as a teenager.

She moved to Los Angeles in 2002 after releasing a debut album in gospel, which was commercially unsuccessful, and adopted the stage name Katy Perry.

She is one of the most successful pop singers in the world, earning accolades from Guinness World Records, Billboard Music Awards and American Music Awards. She has been nominated for the Grammy Awards 13 times and was included in the annual Forbes lists of highest-earning women in music from 2011 to 2019. (gis/wng)
