Indonesia is set to have its first drive-in concert in August, according to local reports.
Initiated by event organizer Berlian Entertainment, entertainment equipment company Mata Elang Productions and media company Mahaka Radio Integra, Drive-In Konser will invite people to enjoy a music concert from their cars, similar to a drive-in movie concept.
Some countries have already started holding such activities to entertain the public amid the COVID-19 pandemic, which has forced people to maintain physical distancing.
The August event is said to feature several local musicians. However, the lineup and location have yet to be revealed.
“When we announced this Drive-In Konser and shared the teaser on May 4, we received a huge response from the public,” Berlian Entertainment project and creative director Dino Hamid told Antara news agency.
According to Dino, the concert will feature a spectacular stage and lighting system, and audiences will be able to listen to the performances from their cars' FM (Frequency Modulation) radio as well.
Registration for the event is currently open at the Drive-In Konser website.
It was previously reported that a drive-in movie event will be held in Jakarta. Event organizer Ergo and Co said the event would adhere to large-scale social restrictions (PSBB). (wir/kes)
