elebrities, influencers and companies throughout the country have started a social media campaign called Indonesia Pasti Bisa (Indonesia certainly can) in an effort to boost public spirits amid the ongoing COVID-19 case surge. It claims to be a “collective effort” to help those affected by the virus.

The campaign, supported by the Health Ministry and other government agencies, began on July 10. It includes the use of profile picture overlays called “twibbons” among actors, musicians and other celebrities on Instagram to spread information on how to get help. The posts refer to the campaign’s Instagram page, @indonesiapastibisa, and its website, indonesiapastibisa.org, where information on telemedicine, available hospitals and other types of support can be found.

“This social movement is to distribute medicines, vitamins, food, staple foods, oxygen, as well as free vaccines to help COVID-19 patients,” celebrity Raffi Ahmad wrote in an Instagram post.

The campaign provides food for self-isolating patients from DigiResto, medicine deliveries from SiCepat and will offer oxygen concentrator loans starting in August. It also provides ambulances for patients in Jakarta and its satellite cities and low-cost staple foods from belanjarutin.id for those affected by COVID-19 throughout the country.

But above all, the program strives to better disseminate information on COVID-19. “We are trying to give the most correct and current data information during this time,” podcaster and campaign spokesperson Deddy Corbuzier said during a press conference on Thursday.

“Don’t panic because of COVID… Being alert is okay… Panic will only lower our immune systems… Help is on the way!! We can do this!!” Deddy wrote on an Instagram post. Other celebrities wrote similarly optimistic messages with the hashtag #indonesiapastibisa.

The campaign’s promotional video consists of celebrities from Baim Wong to Raffi Ahmad reminding the public not to panic. It also includes a song of encouragement by singer Ari Lasso, with a call to rise up and have faith that the nation can overcome this obstacle.

According to its website, the campaign was initiated by “people who want to share”. It is chaired by IDX commissioner Pandu Sjahrir, a coal entrepreneur and nephew of Coordinating Maritime Affairs and Investment Minister Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan.

This spirit of sharing was also underlined by West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil during the press conference. “Indonesia is the most generous country in the world,” he said. “We are the world champions in giving. This is the chance for us to give to and care for each other.”

The campaign has opened vaccine centers in Jakarta, Bandung, Yogyakarta, Surakarta, Semarang and Surabaya. Vitamin D3 5000 IU will also be distributed for free to those in self-isolation who need it. Food from DigiResto will be sold at a cheap price and delivered for free by SiCepat.

During the launch of the campaign on Thursday, Deddy said the program would continue to run until December.
