n trying to deal with the stresses of the pandemic, some Indonesians have found a way to ground themselves with the alleged healing power of crystals.
Indonesian millennials and gen-Zers are seeking "healing" or "cleansing" through the alleged energy emitted from crystals. They believe certain types of crystals have the ability to absorb negative energy, which will calm its owner and help them go through their day.
To believers, different types of crystals offer different types of processes. The rose quartz, for example, is believed to focus on the heart chakra, one of our spiritual focal points within the seven chakras in Hinduism. By connecting the heart chakra with a crystal, it would provide its owner with harmony, love, understanding and purity.
As a crystal seller, Anindya Kanina Widyawan, 23, keeps a rose quartz around her, especially when she needs to "radiate love and positive energy" as she deals with customers.
When she went to Sydney, Australia, 13 years ago, Kanina encountered the world of crystals. It would lead her to create Crystalogy.id in 2019, an Instagram account she uses to sell and educate her customers about crystals. It now has over 8,000 followers.
"I'm inspired to create a community and a platform where I can help reconnect my followers with our Earth. To become grounded, to be reminded that in hard times, the universe is here with us, I think it's what Crystalogy is all about," the 23-year-old said.
