THE UNITED STATES: Indonesian businessman Sandiaga Uno was among the 21 young leaders picked by Asia Society for the 2008 class of Fellows of its Asia 21 Young Leaders Initiative, the organization has announced.
Sandiaga is the chairman of the Indonesian Young Entrepreneurs Association and the chairman of the Permanent Committee for Small and Medium Enterprises of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin).
The program brings together emerging leaders under the age of 40 from across the Asia-Pacific region to develop shared, innovative approaches to the region's challenges.
Fellows serve a two-year term and come together twice per year in different cities in Asia. The first meeting will be held from on March 2-5 in Phuket, Thailand.
Other fellows hail from Iran, Pakistan, Thailand, China, Korea, the Philippines, Vietnam, India, Bangladesh, Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan, the U.S., Myanmar and New Zealand. --JP
