AKARTA: Former director general for legal administration at the Justice and Human Rights Ministry, Zulkarnaen Yunus, was charged at the South Jakarta district court on Wednesday with corruption causing Rp 420 billion in state losses.
Prosecutor Jefri Makapedua told the hearing the defendant had received about Rp 885 million and US$11,940 from the legal institutions administration system project.
"The defendant has helped himself," Jefri told the panel of judges chaired by Tahsin.
The procurement of the online administration system was a cooperation between the ministry's Pengayoman Cooperative and a company.
Prosecutors said the cooperative received 10 percent "access fees" from customers, which were pocketed by the accused, said Jefri as quoted by Antara.
He said Zulkarnaen had received Rp 9.1 billion from the scheme between April 2002 and August 2006, sharing part of his gains with other civil servants in his office, prosecutors said.
