ANDUNG, West Java: Former Bank Indonesia governor Burhanuddin Abdullah, who was convicted of graft last year, will be released from Sukamiskin Prison in Bandung on Saturday.
"He has carried out two-thirds of his term in prison and according to his wishes, he will be released tomorrow," said prison warden Tony Nainggolan on Friday.
When the court sentenced Burhanuddin to five years in prison, he appealed to the high court but it instead handed down an additional six months.
In response to the ruling, Burhanuddin filed for an appeal at the Supreme Court and judges reduced his sentence to three years.
Burhanuddin would have been released on April 10, 2011, after serving his sentence at the prison from Aug. 28, 2009.
