our comments on the call by House of Representatives Speaker and Democratic Party member Marzuki Alie to disband the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) and exonerating corruption suspects in exchange for the return of their ill-gotten wealth to the state:
I agree with the House of Representatives speaker because most of the corruptors are from the new order regime followed by those with a new mentality.
You don’t have to waste everything and let’s forget the old tragic times of the new order. But not disbanding the KPK just because there are no bad soldiers, only bad commanders? Look forward and learn from the past, there is still a lot to struggle for.

Forgive Marzuki Alie for making a corrupt statement; remove him from both the Democratic Party and House speaker position.

Human nature in general requires the vigilant presence, and improvement, of the KPK. The voluntary surrender of loot could lead to the corruptor being forgiven and allowed to continue business activities to redeem their previous shortcomings. Whistleblowers are welcome anytime to join in the development of the country.
Let us get rid of corruptors without having to put them in jail(s). Why? It is because there aren’t enough jails for our corruptors.

Alie’s got to be as corrupt as everyone else to suggest such a thing and must surely have skeletons in his closet.
If schoolchildren are taught stealing, cheating and corrupt practices in exams, and parents encourage them, it means the leaders in 40 years will be same as today.

In such a situation, how could the House speaker call for the KPK to be disbanded and corruptors be forgiven?
His statement raises a big question mark. I’m afraid he is one of the corruptors. As a citizen, I would prefer that he be recalled and replaced with someone who wants to struggle for people’s interests, not just enjoy his seat at the House.

The proposal posed by the speaker of the House to disband the KPK and to pardon corruptors is an irresponsible proposal which is also against existing laws. Elites within the Democratic Party are in disarray, due to Nazaruddin’s allegations; hence their controversial statements.
It is also a fact that SBY is not allowed by law to serve a third term as president. Therefore the Democratic Party is no longer needed as his political vehicle. Whatever party leaders say has no importance anymore.

This is a brilliant idea from a brilliant man! Once Marzuki Alie disbands the KPK for poor performance and lack of integrity he can then disband the Democratic Party for the same reasons.

Mr. Alie, how could you be so silly? Your latest remarks to disband the KPK and pardon corrupt convicts are unreasonable. As long as the corruptors exist, we still need a strong body like the KPK.

Bang Juki (Brother Marzuki), from the way you talk you are not fit to be the House speaker. It is better to think first before talking.

As House of Representatives speaker, Marzuki Alie has to be wise when giving comments on such crucial cases. At the same time, he has to back up President SBY more seriously in freeing the country from any form of corruption, as well as in catching Nazaruddin.

If I was Pak Marzuki Alie, as the speaker of the House of Representatives, then I would apologize to all the people in Indonesia concerning my controversial statement that called for the Corruption Eradication Commission to be disbanded. That statement was really misleading and confusing.
If a state institution that has been recognized by the country’s laws can be targeted for disbandment, then by the same logic, if at some time in the country there are many state officials who cannot work or function, then the House speaker could call for the state to be disbanded. Therefore, generosity and expertise are both really needed in politics; what people need now are statesmen, not statements.

What came out of Marzuki’s mouth was a manifestation of what was in his unconscious mind: a deep fear of being caught by the KPK himself for the new DPR building commission. After so many blunders by Marzuki, Anas, and Nazaruddin, it transpires that SBY chose the wrong people, namely young guys with vested interests and ambitions.

I think it’s better to go without the House of Representatives. The KPK should definitely stay until this country is free from corruption. This is the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard. I don’t understand how somebody like Marzuki Alie can stay in his job now. Are we all still thinking, or what?

The existence of the KPK is not significant in eradicating corruption. The KPK will never do what it was intended to do because of high-level intervention. I agree with the idea to disband the KPK.
It’s a waste of money and an embarrassment to society. The KPK is like a hit-and-miss cancer-fighting drug. It can’t kill the cancer, it only makes the cancer grow bigger.

Of course it’s a member of the House of Representatives who is afraid that should the KPK become too powerful, it will someday investigate his affairs, too!
But Indonesia must be proud to have an institution like the KPK which those of us in Europe don’t have! It protects the ordinary people from whom the most corrupt people steal everything. It is regrettable that many of those thieves are members of our parliaments!

Marzuki calls for forgiveness for corruptors. It may be because the investigation on corruption is about to reach him.
