ocial Affairs Minister Saifullah “Gus Ipul” Yusuf said his ministry had halted the disbursement of social assistance (bansos) to more than 200,000 recipients who were involved in online gambling.

The ministry had asked the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK) to check some 600,000 accounts suspected of being involved in online gambling before terminating the assistance.

“From more than 600,000 accounts, we have terminated the social assistance for more than 200,000 accounts,” Gus Ipul said on Tuesday, as quoted by Kompas.tv.

“The remaining 300,000 accounts are still being examined. If they are proven [to also be involved in online gambling], then they will also stop receiving bansos.”
