AKARTA: Charly van Houten, the front man of pop group ST 12, has decided to ditch his bandmates after he could no longer juggle his duties as the vocalist of the Melayu-influenced band and his personal projects as a music producer and talent scout.

“The decision is final. Charlie is officially out of ST 12,” Charly’s manager, Rendi, said recently.

He added Charly quit the band because he was not able to divide his time between his activities with ST 12 and his work as a music producer.

“This is Charly’s final decision after trying to hold on with ST 12 for several years. He is very busy with his [music] management and his talent scout affairs,” Rendi said as reported by vivanews.com.

He added that Charly would not help his bandmates look for a new vocalist.

Charly has written many of the band’s catchy hits such as “Puspa”. He has dabbled as a producer and is now working with pop starlet Syahrini.
