AKARTA: Nokia Indonesia has appointed Martin Chirotarrab as its new country manager, replacing Bob McDougall who has led the local office for the past three years.
Martin, who was responsible for overseeing Nokia’s operations in Latin America since 2008, said he would focus on pushing the Windows-based Lumia smartphone onto the Indonesian market.
“One of the keys is to let consumers know what the Lumia phone is. We are going to put forward ways for people to experience the phone,” he said.
He added that another focus would be on building an ecosystem for Nokia’s products, which included paying attention to local application developers who would supply applications for the phones.
“I will also put a lot of focus on people. A successful team is one that is managed in a way that motivates people,” he added.
McDougall pointed out that one of the challenges would be managing priorities among Nokia’s vast portfolio in Indonesia’s sizable market.
He added that the consumer always came first. “The Indonesian consumer has a clear idea of what to expect at what price. Rather than working on a top-down approach, one should work the other way around,” he said.
