AKARTA: The singer of long-standing band D’lloyd, Syamsuar Hasyim, passed away on Saturday morning.

Sam had learned he had cancer only two days before his death, tempo.co reported.

According to kapanlagi.com, Sam lost consciousness during a recent D’lloyd show in Malayasia. Guitarist and frontman Bartje Van Houten said the singer was then hospitalized in Indonesia.

“After five days, his condition improved and after that we did a show again at the Grand Menteng Hotel because of a contract, but apparently his condition had drastically deteriorated,” he said.

D’lloyd’s fame is said to have reached its peak in the 1970s. Their hits include “Keagungan Tuhan” and “Tak Mungkin”.
