By bringing down world No. 3 Du Pengyu of China, Dionysius Hayom Rumbaka is set to face world No. 1 Lee Chong Wei of Malaysia in the semifinals of 2013 Djarum Indonesia Open badminton championship.

Hayom said that beating Pengyu had jacked up his attitude to challenge of the world'€™s best player.

Well aware of the tricky task ahead, he brushed aside the notion of becoming a champion to succeed fellow Indonesian Simon Santoso, forced out of the tournament through injury.

'€œI'€™m in no way trying to replace Simon. I just sticking to my plan '€” trying to win every match,'€ he said.

Cong Wei booked his semifinal ticket with an emphatic 21-10, 21-7 victory over Boonsak Ponsana of Thailand.

'€œTomorrow [Saturday], I hope my analysis will be good, so I can make the right decisions,'€ he said.

Despite never having won against Lee, Hayom said he did not feel inferior.

While fretting what tactics he will employ to try to take his first win against the Malaysian, Hayom has good reason to be excited to be through to the semifinals.

Despite winning the previous two meetings over Pengyu, Friday'€™s victory testified to the Indonesian'€™s outstanding performance, given big gap on the world rankings between the two. Hayom is 24 compared to Pengyu'€™s 3.

It was not an easy game for Hayom, who enjoyed huge support from home fans inside the Istora Senayan.

Hayom ruled his opponent in opening game, building points from a series of smashes and net play to win the first game 21-15.

He continued his lethal smashes but Pengyu was reading them better now and took the second game 21-15 before Hayom regained his composure to seal the third game and the match with 21-9.

'€œIt'€™s been a slightly easy match compared to my previous encounters with Pengyu,'€ Hayom referred to their matches at All England 2012 and Japan Open 2011.

The other semifinal match will pit another Indonesian Tommy Sugiarto against Marc Zwiebler of Germany

Tommy continued his winning form with Gurusaidutt R. M.V becoming his latest victim. The Indian was beaten 19-21, 21-11, 21-10.

Zwiebler earned his ticket after beating Indian Ajay Jayaram 21-16, 21-15.

'€œZwiebler is a good shuttler. I'€™ve lost and won against him. We know each other'€™s style. I will have just to be patient,'€ Tommy said.

Indonesia other representatives in semifinals are Mohammad Ahsan/Hendra Setiawan in the men'€™s doubles and Liliyana Natsir/Tontowi Ahmad in the mixed doubles.

Ahsan/Hendra tamed world No. 5 Cai Yun/Fu Haifeng 21-18, 21-13, while world No. 3 Liliyana /Tontowi outclassed world No. 5 Peng Soon Chan/Liu Ying Goh of Malaysia 21-15, 21-16.

In the semifinals, Ahsan/Hendra will face Russian Vladimir Ivanov/Ivan Sozonov, who beat Indonesian Markis Kido/Alven Yulianto Chandra, while Liliyana/Tontowi will meet Danish Joachim Fischer Nielsen/Christinna Pedersen, who beat Indonesian Muhammad Rijal/Debby Susanto.

The other matches in the men'€™s doubles will be all-South Korean encounter with Ko Sung-hyun/Lee Yong-dae taking on Shin Baek-choel/Yoo Yeon-seong. It will be an all-Chinese match in the other mixed doubles with Xu Chen/Jin Ma facing Zhang Nan/Zhao Yunlei.

It was a sad story in the women'€™s singles and doubles for the hosts.

Bellaetrix Manuputty went out the women'€™s singles after losing 16-21, 23-21, 22-20 to Yip Pui Yin of Hong Kong.

In the women'€™s doubles Indonesia had three pairs at the beginning of the day but all three failed to hold up against the Chinese onslaught.

Yip will face Chinese Li Xuerui, who beat South Korean Bae Yeon-ju; while, German Juliane Schenk, who beat Taiwanese Tai Tzu Ying, will face Indian Saina Nehwal, who beat Spanish Carolina Marin.
