he West Jakarta District Court has sentenced gang leader Hercules Rozario Marshal to four months in prison. However, Hercules is likely to be released on Monday since he had been detained for three months and 25 days prior to the ruling.
"According to our calculation, he will be released on July 8,"Hercules' lawyer Petrus Leatomu, said on Tuesday as quoted by Kompas.com.
The ruling was much lighter than the six-month sentence earlier sought by the prosecutors. No comment was provided by the prosecutors regarding the ruling.
Hercules' other lawyer, Agung SriPurnomo, said despite the fact that his client would be released in a few more days, the lawyers still planned to request the panelrehabilitate Hercules' name and
public image.
'We need more time to think of how to respond to the ruling,' Agung said.
Hercules and 49 accomplices were put on trial after the police found them attempting to disrupt police inquires for the allegations of thuggery, extortion committed by Hercules and his men.(fan/dic)
