ndonesian men'€™s doubles pair Hendra Setiawan-Muhammad Ahsan climbed to the top spot in world ranking, replacing the parted-pair Lee Yong Dae-Ko Sung Hyun of South Korea, according to the Badminton World Federation (BWF).

After winning a series of tournaments, namely the Badminton World Championships, Malaysia Open Superseries, Indonesia Superseries Premier, Singapore Superseries, and Japan Open Superseries 2013, the pair finally surpassed the Korean pair'€™s points and took the number one position.

Yong Dae-Sung Hyun parted ways in October and made their debut with their respective new partners Yoo Yeon-seong and Shin Baek-cheol at the Denmark Open in October.

However, both Hendra and Ahsan have yet to feel content with the title and are aiming for more.

'€œI'€™m still curious about the All England title as well as the Thomas Cup and Sudirman Cup. I'€™ve participated in the Thomas Cup team several times but we have never won,'€ Hendra said in a statement.

He is also aiming for the 2014 Asian Games and another BWF World Championships title next year.

Hendra got a taste of being at the top with his previous partner, Markis Kido, in 2009, with whom he made an impressive five-year partnership by winning prestigious sporting events such as the World Championships in 2007 and a gold medal at the Beijing Olympics in 2008.

'€œI'€™m glad to be at the top rank again [with a new partner], but I shall not be too content [with the achievement yet] because men'€™s doubles players now have equal strength,'€ said Hendra.

For Ahsan, this is his first time at the top.

'€œI used to consider winning world championships as my biggest goal in my career,'€ said the 26-year-old shuttler.

'€œThis is the result of our hardwork with our coach [Herry Iman Pierngadi],'€ he added.

'€œTeaming up players is not easy, doing so requires lots of learning. However, Ahsan-Hendra can achieve World Championships title and have become top-ranked shuttlers within a year [of their pairing]. I hope this achievement can motivate other athletes,'€ said Herry.

The pair, who is taking part in the Hong Kong Open Superseries tournament, secured their ticket to the semifinals on Friday after defeating Russia'€™s Vladimir Ivanov-Ivan Sozonov 21-15, 14-21, 22-20.

Earlier on Friday, Tommy Sugiarto secured his ticket to the semifinals after defeating China'€™s Wang Zhengming in a tight game that ended 17-21, 21-9, 21-12.

They first met at the Singapore Open Superseries where Tommy won 21-16, 22-20 over Zhengming, but at their second encounter at the China Open Superseries premier, Zhengming defeated Tommy 21-15, 14-21, 21-18.

Unfortunately, all of Indonesia'€™s women'€™s doubles shuttlers bowed out in quarterfinals.

Anggia Shitta Awanda-Della Destiara Haris were stopped by Danes Kamilla Rytter Juhl-Cristinna Pedersen 14-21, 13-21 while Vita Marissa-Variella Aprilsasi were defeated by Japan'€™s Misaki Matsutomo-Ayaka Takahashi, 18-21, 10-21.
