PAN to announce Hatta'€™s vice presidential nomination

P

rabowo Subianto and Hatta Rajasa are set to be announced as a presidential-vice presidential ticket at the National Mandate Party's (PAN) national work meeting (Rakernas), which will take place at the party'€™s central executive board office in Jakarta on Wednesday.

Head of PAN's central executive board, Viva Yoga Mauladi, who is also the party'€™s campaign team, said party chairman Hatta would be the Gerindra Party's presidential candidate, Prabowo Subianto'€™s, running mate in the July election.

'€œPAN will declare Pak Hatta Rajasa as a vice presidential candidate alongside Pak Prabowo. The declaration will be made during the Rakernas,'€ he said in Jakarta on Tuesday as quoted by Antara news agency. He added that Prabowo was scheduled to attend the meeting.

Viva Yoga said the Rakernas would decide the party'€™s vision and mission and coalition platform.

Apart from PAN, Gerindra'€™s coalition partners include the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) and the United Development Party (PPP), accumulating an estimated combined 33 percent of the vote from the legislative election.

Viva Yoga said he was optimistic that Prabowo-Hatta'€™s electability would continue to increase until election day on July 9. '€œThere are around seven weeks left to boost Pak Prabowo's popularity as a presidential candidate,'€ he said.

The results of a survey by Indikator Politik Indonesia found that Prabowo'€™s electability stood at 19.8 percent, up from 11.4 percent in its March survey. (gda/ebf)
