fter two weeks of intense competition among 45Asian countries, the 17th Asian Games culminated in a spectacular closingceremony in the host city of Incheon, South Korea, on Saturday.

"It has come to an end and it is time for us to say goodbye," said Sheik Ahmad al-Fahad al-Sabah, the president of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA), in his closing remarks at the Incheon Asiad Main Stadium.

The 2.5-hour ceremony was filled with show-stopping performances as well as a massive fireworks show.

The fireworks, which closed the show, were accompanied by a performance from popular K-pop boy band Big Bang, which performed a string of hits, including '€œFantastic Baby'€.

Other highlights of the ceremony included performances from CN Blue and Taekwondo martial artists.

The ceremony also marked the passing of the torch from Incheon to Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia, which won the bid to host the 18th Asian Games to be held in 2018.

Jakarta Deputy Governor Basuki '€œAhok'€ Tjahaja Purnama, South Sumatra Governor Alex Noerdin and National Olympic Committee Indonesia president Rita Subowo attended the ceremony to receive the OCA flag and flame from Kim Young-soo, the president of the Incheon Asian Games Organising Committee, and the sheik.

As the 17th Asian Games ended, China emerged triumphant with 151 gold medals, well ahead of the 79 won by host South Korea and the 47 that went to Japan.

Indonesia, meanwhile, finished in 17th place with four gold medals, five silver and 11 bronze.
