Traffic around Jl. Salemba Raya in Central Jakarta delayed fire trucks on a mission to extinguish a Transjakarta bus that caught fire in Salemba on Friday morning.

'€œWhen we received the report [on the fire], we had obstacles with the crowded traffic around Pasar Senes and Taman Ismail Marzuki,'€ a fireman from the Central Jakarta Fire Team, Abdullah, told kompas.com.

The situation forced the Central Jakarta Fire Team to contact the East Jakarta branch to deploy one of their fire trucks to the location.

The team received the report on the fire at 8 a.m.

The bus caught fire at the Salemba bus stop as it was traveling from Ancol, North Jakarta, to Kampung Melayu, East Jakarta.

No casualties were reported.

The president director of Transjakarta, Antonius Kosasih, said the bus was a local product and had just been serviced. (ika)
