The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) announced on Thursday that Indonesia recorded deflation of 0.05 percent during September 2015.
The BPS recorded that inflation in August this year stood at 0.39 percent while in September 2014, Indonesia recorded 0.27 percent inflation. In September 2013, the country suffered a deflation of 0.35 percent.
BPS head Suryamin said that year-on-year, September inflation was 6.83 percent and core inflation 0.44 percent.
'The yearly core inflation stood at 5.07 percent,' he said as quoted by kontan.co.id in Jakarta on Thursday.
Suryamin further said the government was considered to have successfully controlled prices after the fasting month of Ramadhan.
'It cannot be separated from well-controlled basic commodity prices, especially food commodities,' he said.
In September, food prices suffered a 1.07 percent deflation, said the BPS. (ebf)(++++)
