AKARTA: Film producer Mira Lesmana has said she fully respects Ladya Cheryl’s decision not to take part in sequel Ada Apa Dengan Cinta? 2 (What’s Up with Cinta? 2).

Mira said she understood that the absence of Ladya, who played Alia, one of Cinta’s best friends in the first film, was due to the actress’ desire to continue her studies.

“For me, it is amazing to continue studying when you’re not young anymore,” Mira said.

It was earlier disclosed that Ladya could not take part in the sequel because her university had not granted her leave to take part in the film production.

Mira said she had had to revise the script after Ladya confirmed her absence but had chosen not to replace Ladya with another star because she was afraid it would ruin the story. “It would be difficult for Cinta’s gang if one of the cast members was not from the previous movie,” she said. — JP
