he House of Representatives and other government officials are set to finish up their deliberation of the tax amnesty bill next week.
"The bill must be finished by next week," chairman of the House’s working unit on the tax amnesty bill Soepriyatno said at the House complex in Jakarta on Thursday.
As of Thursday, the working unit had managed to complete deliberation of 19 out of 27 articles in the bill, said Soepriyatno, a lawmaker from the Gerindra Party, adding that after all articles have been discussed, the team will look into each article once more before approving the bill.
Should the deliberation not be done by next week, he said, the unit would take the bill to the working committee of House Commission XI overseeing finance and banking which would hold a deciding vote.
Next Monday, the working unit will discuss matters including the tax tariffs to be applied to participants in tax amnesty.
Soepriyatno expressed his optimism that the working unit would complete the deliberation next week.
Finance Minister Bambang S. Brodjonegoro said the tax amnesty implementation would start on July 1. Bambang has targeted government earnings of Rp 165 trillion (US$12.34 billion) from the prospective policy's implementation. (bbn)
