A giant surf board made by a Balinese craftsman has broken the record for Asia's biggest surf board.
The Indonesian Museum of Records (MURI) declared the surf board, which measures at 6 meters by 1.2 m, as the biggest surf board in Asia during an event on Kuta Beach, on Wednesday.
"We officially recorded this as the biggest surf board in Asia," said MURI manager Sri Widayati.
Made by Balinese Dewa Putu Suardika, the giant surf board was ordered for the celebration of a clothing factory in Kuta.
The world’s biggest surf board, which is 13m by 40 centimeters, was recorded in California, US, she went on.
Asia’s biggest surf board was successfully used by Balinese surfing legend Ketut Menda on the sidelines of the event.
"I am so proud to have a chance to use Asia's biggest surf board. This event can shows Bali is one of the most favorite surfing destinations in the world," Menda said.
The surfer admitted that surfing with an extremely big surf board was a tough challenge, but he was up for the challenge. (ebf)
