"We will transform the river into a water tourist spot and provide water bicycles for visitors," the Jakarta Environment Agency’s water management division head, Junjungan Sihombing, said on Thursday.
He added that his side would solely use corporate social responsibility (CSR) money to fund the project.
"We'll start with the CNI River in West Jakarta first before rejuvenating the Pesanggrahan River. The cost for the plan will be fully covered by CSR funds," he said.
Junjungan said the agency would communicate with relevant agencies before proceeding with the plan, which was expected to start next month.
