oordinating Maritime Affairs Minister Luhut Pandjaitan has announced that dwell time at seaports had been reduced but logistics costs remained high.
"We acknowledge that logistics costs are a problem that we are trying to resolve," he said in Jakarta on Thursday as reported by Antara news agency.
Luhut said the average dwell time at big ports had been brought down to below three days, compares to 6.4 days at Tanjung Priok Port in 2014.
Previously, President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo stressed the need to further cut dwell time to ensure smooth import-export activities. He instructed relevant institutions to strive to cut the dwell time from three days to two.
"I ask for two days for dwell time. We will not change unless we are forced to do so. In fact, we could change if we really wanted to,” said Jokowi. (bbn)
