rothers Garibaldi “Boy” Thohir and Erick Thohir have been listed among the top five Most Admired CEOs of 2017 by Indonesia’s first economic magazine, Warta Ekonomi.
With his position as the boss of major coal miner PT Adaro Energy, Boy represents the mining sector, while Erick, who heads PT Cakrawala Andalas Televisi (ANTV), represents the media industry.
The winners of the Most Admired CEO awards were selected through a quantitative research involving a survey of 17,124 respondents in five cities, according to a statement from the magazine released on Monday.
Candidates were judged based on their ability to bring change and create prosperity to their employees as well as their viewpoint and vision to grow the company’s business in the future.
Boy and Erick are the sons of the deceased Muhammad Teddy Thohir who largely engaged in developing diversified group PT Astra International.
Boy has focused on the mining business, while Erick founded media and entertainment group, Mahaka Group. — JP/jlm
