During the 1990s, Indonesian alternative rock band Padi was one of the biggest names in the local music scene.

In the last seven years, members of the group have gone their separate ways although they never officially announced that they had disbanded.

However, Padi fans can rejoice now because Piyu, the band’s guitarist and founding member, and his colleagues have finally decided to end their hiatus and reunite for a new project.

The project is called Padi Reborn and the band plans to celebrate its reunion with a concert dubbed the Padi Reborn-Welcome Home Concert on Feb. 3 next year at the Grand City Surabaya in Surabaya, East Java, the city where Piyu and his colleagues formed the band for the first time when they were still university students.

“Padi was born in Surabaya and therefore, the exclusive reunion concert must premiere in this city as well. This concert will be a special moment for the Sobat Padi [the band’s fan-group moniker],” Kayana Delapan, the organizer of the concert, said in an official press release quoted by kapanlagi.com.
