View all search resultsotorcyclists are not using dedicated lanes for motorcyclists along Jl. MH Thamrin and Jl. Medan Merdeka Barat in Central Jakarta, a week after the city administration provided the lanes.
Jakarta Police traffic unit chief Adj. Cr. Comr. Budiyanto said there is yet to be a regulation on the motorcycle lane, adding, “It is implemented as a suggestion only.”
“I do not want to give any further comment since I haven’t been informed on the regulation [of the motorcycle lane],” said Budiyanto on Wednesday as quoted by kompas.com.
Previously, Jakarta Transportation Agency head Andri Yansyah said the special lane was aimed at avoiding traffic jams after motorcyclists were allowed to enter Jl. MH Thamrin and Jl. Medan Merdeka Barat.
“The revocation of the ban definitely affects the traffic conditions along the roads. But we should follow the rules; what we can do is organize those roads with the new system, especially since those roads represent the face of Jakarta,” Andri said. (roi)
