The city administration previously allocated Rp 1.95 trillion (US$ 136.5 million) from the city budget for the program.
The agency has surveyed 176 of 500 potential spots in North, East, South and West Jakarta.
The agency had also met with several land owners to discuss the price of land, which has ballooned to Rp 10 million (US$725) per square meter from around Rp 4 million when the budget allocation was drafted, Djafar said.
“Given the allocated budget, the city administration might only be able to procure 35 hectares of land,” Djafar said on Thursday.
The procurement would be handled carefully so as not to cause conflict in the future, he added.
Djafar added that the goal to provide 30 percent of green space in the capital was challenging given the city’s 2017-2022 mid-term regional development plan (RPJMD) only factored in the addition of 2.5 million square meters of new green space in Jakarta.
Currently, there is only 30.3 million square meters of green space in the city, equal to 9.98 percent of total land, far below the 30 percent requirement.
Therefore, if the administration used the limited land to develop integrated child-friendly public spaces (RPTRAs), the 30-percent target might be difficult to achieve, Djafar said.
“I recommend the housing agency procure the land for the RPTRAs or use public facilities to develop parks,” he said.
