Veteran Indonesian men’s doubles badminton pair Hendra Setiawan and Mohammad Ahsan are focusing on collecting points to improve their world ranking, with the former world number ones now sitting at 117th.

With this goal in mind, Hendra and Ahsan, who got back together earlier this year, have set their eyes on competing in the Indonesian men’s team for the Thomas Cup in May, the 18th Asian Games in August and September, the Indonesia Open championships in July and the World Championships in July and August.

Prior to the four tournaments, the pair, winners of the 2015 and 2016 World Championships, are focusing on the German Open after advancing to the open quarterfinals after beating Denmark’s Kim Astrup and Anders Skaarup on Thursday.

Ahsan said it was a challenging match and that many of his serves had been faulted by the service judge.

“We are grateful we were able to win [the second round] match,” he said, as quoted by badmintonindonesia.org. “My serves were faulted several times by the judge. I tried to do [the serves] the other way, but [the judge] still considered them wrong.”
