The police's counterterrorist squad, Densus 88, have shot dead four terror suspects in Cianjur regency, West Java, on Sunday early morning.
According to a report made available by the National Police, the Densus 88 personnel had been tailing the suspects, who were traveling from Sukabumi to Cianjur by car.
The suspects allegedly opened fire during their attempted arrest in Cianjur by the Densus 88 personnel, who returned fire and apparently killed the four suspects.
The suspects were identified as BBN, 21, DCN, 23, AR, 33, and HS, 23.
The police seized several items from the suspects that were allegedly going to be used in a terror act during the Idul Fitri holiday in June.
Among the evidence were two handguns, three bags containing explosives, two helmets and a blueprint for a weapon.
The incident in Cianjur occurred only hours before suicide bombers launched attacks on three churches in Surabaya, East Java, in which at least 10 people were killed and 40 others were injured. (dmr)
