Leading gas turbine generator provider Kawasaki Gas Turbine Asia, a subsidiary of Kawasaki Heavy Industries Ltd., recently opened its first representative office in Jakarta as part of its global expansion. The company has its regional headquarters in Malaysia.

“The opening of our office in Indonesia is part of our global expansion. We provide green gas engines to produce clean and environment-friendly energy,” Kawasaki Heavy Industries vice executive officer Takeshi Ohata said during a reception to mark the opening of the representative office in Jakarta on May 19.

Indonesia’s Investment Coordinating Agency (BKPM) director Alma Karma welcomed the opening of Kawasaki’s representative office in Jakarta.

“Indonesia is in the middle of improving the investment climate by reducing bureaucratic procedures and regulations. We are offering many incentives to foreign investors,” Alma said.

Meanwhile, the Japanese Embassy’s minister for economic affairs, Mari Takada, said Kawasaki’s decision comes at the right time.

“Kawasaki opened its office in Indonesia at the right time of the year because both Indonesia and Japan are celebrating the 60th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations,” Takada said.

The chief representative of Kawasaki in Indonesia, Muneyuki Nishi, said so far the response from Indonesian companies was very good.

“We have high quality green gas turbines and many companies are interested in our products. We see a huge potential here,” Nishi added.

According to Nishi, the electrical efficiency from Kawasaki gas turbine gas generators was 49.5 percent.

Kawasaki Heavy Industries was established in 1878. It is an integrated engineering manufacturer whose engineered products cover land, sea and air. It manufactures ships, railway rolling stock, aircraft, gas turbines, industrial plants and motorcycles.
