op officials from the World Bank (WB), the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the Bali administration and the Bali Police prayed together on Thursday under drizzling rain in Besakih Temple in Karangasem regency.
IMF secretary of the fund Jianhai Lin and WB vice president and corporate secretary Yvonne Tsikata prayed alongside Bali Governor Made Mangku Pastika, Bali Police chief Insp. Gen. Petrus Golose and Bank Indonesia’s Bali office head Causa Iman Karana.
They prayed for a smooth event in October this year in Nusa Dua, where an estimated 15,000 delegates from 189 countries will come to the island to talk about the global economic situation.
Governor Pastika said after the prayer that they had asked for God’s blessing.
The IMF’s Lin, who donned a batik and a white Balinese headdress, thanked all Balinese and Indonesians for the opportunity to join a special event at the Hindu temple of Besakih. He shared his optimism that the event would go well, praising Indonesia as a beautiful country and Bali a beautiful island.
As of June 26, the government has disbursed Rp 500 billion (US$35 million) of the total budget of Rp 855 billion for the upcoming event in Bali.
