A

ll four Indonesian volleyball teams beat their respective opponents in the knockout round on Friday to secure a place in the quarterfinals, which start on Saturday.

They are slated to face off against teams from Oman, China and Japan. The latter two are both known heavyweights in the sport.

Indonesian women’s duos Desi Ratnasari and Yokebed Purari Eka, and Putu Dini Jasita Utami both took on opponents from Chinese Taipei on Friday, winning 2-0 and 2-1, respectively.

Over at the men’s teams, Ade Candra Rachmawan and Mohammad Ashfiya successfully downed Thailand 2-0, while Danangsyah Yudistira Pribadi and Gilang Ramadhan beat Kazakhstan 2-1.

Desi and Yokebed will next square off against their Chinese counterparts on Saturday at 9 a.m., while Dhita and Putu will face the Japanese team at 3 p.m.

“We will train again tomorrow morning before returning to the court to play against Japan. So, we will prepare our best strategy to face Japan in the morning,” Dhita told journalists after the match with Chinese Taipei.

Meanwhile, Danangsyah and Gilang will face the team from Oman at 10 a.m and Ade-Mohammad will meet the Chinese team at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
