Truck falls over in East Jakarta, injures four

n overloaded freight truck carrying rolls of steel cable and 30 people toppled over on Wednesday on Jl. Pusdiklat Depnaker in Makasar, East Jakarta..
The Jakarta Police traffic unit’s law enforcement head, Sr. Adj. Comr. Budiyanto, said four people were injured in the accident, one of whom suffered a broken leg.
“It was initially reported that five people were injured, but there were only four [injured],” Budiyanto said as quoted by kompas.com.
He said that the accident occurred as the truck was heading north on Jl. Pusdiklat Depnaker. The driver apparently lost control of the vehicle, which then tilted to its left and fell over.
“The passengers fell out of the truck and were hit by the cable [it was carrying],” Budiyanto added.
The 30 people were riding in the open bed of the truck, which was also loaded with the steel cable.
The injured were rushed to Budi Asih Hospital in Cawang, East Jakarta. The police have detained the truck driver for questioning. (vla)
