est Jakarta Mayor Rustam Effendi has said around 100 plots of land in the municipality have been identified and proposed to Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan to be transformed into open green spaces, including parks.
"I have listed around 100 plots [of land] and proposed them to the governor. Hopefully, the relevant agencies in the administration can create open spaces in West Jakarta," he said on Sunday as quoted by Kompas.com.
The vacant plots, he said, were of various sizes. There was also land that was supposed to be used for public facilities, but the plans had been abandoned.
"Open spaces for children to play in is limited in West Jakarta. We will try to create more spaces, even small spaces," he added.
Green spaces in the municipality include Catelya Park and Srengseng City Forest. (Fac)
